League Cup Prices

Bookies don’t need to be very clever. Take a price and build a margin around it, job done. If the price isn’t that accurate that’s not too much of a problem as you can adjust the price by looking at other bookies or take small wagers and adjust the price.

Low profile markets can be a problem but occasionally something comes up and smacks you in the face and here it is – the league cup at the semi-final stage.

I make my own prices and admittedly there are some variables here. Even though we’re at the semis, it still hard to tell what the team news will be but I’ve got to price it up and do so based pretty much on league form.

Here’s what I’ve come up with in decimal.

Liverpool 2.32

Arsenal 2.65

Newcastle 8.77

Tottenham 13.17

Over the last few weeks Tottenham’s stock has fallen but you’ll be interested to know that Hill opened up with Arsenal at 15/8 and Liverpool 9/4. 9/4? Yes, 9/4 but that’s where the bookie doesn’t need to worry too much. They were clear best price, pretty easy to find that out and for maybe £100 they could alter the price. Down to 7/4 they went. That’s now been removed.

I don’t want to do all the work for you but the best available prices now with bookies I can get a bet on with are

Liverpool 13/8 (2.625)

Arsenal 6/4 (2.50)

Newcastle 11/2 (6.50)

Tottenham 7/1 (8.00)

One bookie even has Tottenham as short as 9/2 (5.5) on the outright and 10bet, with prices the same as the terminals in the shops, operate to a totally shameful 127% for a four-runner race.

So, Tottenham as short as 9/2 but how about the ‘to qualify’ prices? Well, Bet365 has Tottenham at 11/2 just to qualify. Can you make sense of that? Of course not.

I’m not going to tell you what to do but to make money betting you need to find opportunities. Sometimes they turn up where you don’t expect them.
